FAQ

Who owns a Nurph Channel?

A Nurph Channel is owned by the matching Twitter Username. For example, @ is the owner of #PrintChat. There is one Nurph #Channel for every Twitter @.

Why do I need the matching Twitter @Username for a Hashtag?

A Nurph Channel (also known as a #Hashtag) is moderated by the matching Twitter @. Therefore #BrandChat is moderated by @, #Starbucks by @, etc. You can visit and chat away in a Nurph Channel without the matching Twitter Username, but if you would like to use the full moderation and chat management features then you'll need access to the matching Twitter Username.

Can my chat use a different hashtag to my Twitter username?

You can start a Chat on Nurph with any hashtag. Simply register the Twitter Username for the Hashtag you would like to use (this is known as the Moderator/Admin of the Hashtag), and log-in to Nurph using this Twitter Username.

I don't own the Twitter Username for the Hashtag I want to use. What can I do?

Not to worry - there's serveral ways to solve this. Firstly, please try getting in touch with the person who owns the Twitter Username to see if you can resolve the situation. Secondly, perhaps there's an alternative Hashtag that you could use that would still work just as well. Thirdly, if the Twitter Username you require is rarely used by the existing owner and seems to be neglected, please contact support @ nur.ph. Perhaps we can help you to get in touch with Twitter about making use of the Twitter Username.

Why should I have the matching Twitter @Username for my Twitter #Hashtag?

Registering the matching Twitter @ for your Twitter Chat #Hashtag has many benefits.

Firstly, most of the top Twitter Chats have registered their matching Twitter @ and use it as the official Twitter account for sharing news and updates about the chat. For example, @, @, @, @, @...the list goes on. Follow in the footsteps of the leading Twitter Chats and take the same approach.

Secondly, this protects your brand on Twitter. If you don't register the Twitter @ that matches your Twitter #Hashtag, someone else will.

Thirdly, Nurph #Channels are moderated by the matching Twitter @. With the matching Twitter @ you can Schedule Chats, Moderate Participants, Create Replays, Curate Statistics, and much more.

Why am being asked to rejoin a Nurph Channel?

Nurph uses 'real-time streaming technology' to deliver tweets in a Nurph Channel to your Web Browser. Occasionally we see connection errors related to this technology, and so far we have seen that leaving and rejoining a Nurph Channel can resolve this issue. However, you may find that this issue resolves itself.
